How do you complete a medical and history interview with a patient exhibiting signs of dementia or Alzheimer’s? What are some ways the medical assistant can demonstrate professionalism and sensitivity in communication?

Answers

There are ways to communicate with the person with dementia, set a positive mood for interaction then always get the attention of the person, clearly state the message and ask the simple and answerable question. And in listening always use not only eats but eyes and heart.  And when approaching the older people give time and allow them to talk while taking their histories.
