During the vietnam war, what effect did knowledge of events like the tet offensive, my lai and the contents of the pentagon papers have on the american public?

These things had a tremendous effect on the American public. The revelation of the Pentagon papers and the events like the Tet Offensive had the negative effect on the US war effort as they turned more and more people against the War in Vietnam. The people after this knew more about the war and knew that things were not as the government portrayed them to be so the people lost faith in the government and wanted the war to be over.
